Lorelai's First Cotillion is the third episode of the seventh season of the television series Gilmore Girls. ==Plot== Lorelai and Rory have arrived for Friday night dinner at the Gilmore mansion. Lorelai tells Rory to punch her in the stomach so she can get out of it. It’s been 3 weeks since the last Friday night dinner and they haven't seen each other since. Lorelai is dreading it, particularly because of the "Luke thing" and not knowing whether or not Emily knew about it. Rory thinks she should tell Richard and Emily, because of the "house debacle". And we all know how Emily likes to poke people to spill uncomfortable truths like she has before. So, they’ve been standing outside the door a while now, trying to figure out how Emily and Richard are going to take the news about Lorelai and Luke, and how they are going to treat Lorelai about it. Rory promises to deflect with her rich knowledge of Bangalore and its culture. Young Miss Charlotte answers the door to greet Lorelai and Rory (she’s adorable). Emily congratulates Charlotte on her manners in answering the door and says she is doing a good job. After some small talk, Charlotte offers to get cocktails for everyone in the room. "Is that legal?,” asks Lorelai. Charlotte asks if Lorelai wants hers straight up or on the rocks meaning her martini. That tiny little girl knows how to make drinks? Wow. "You’re never too young to learn to make a martini" - Emily Emily asks who Charlotte is and how they know her, if she was won in a poker game or something like that. Richard explains that the DAR has asked Emily to lend her help to the summer cotillion that is going on. Charlotte, who is 10 years old, missed the previous week’s session on table manners, so the dinner is a make-up class for the time she missed. Emily looks down at her glass. The ice has melted. She reprimands Charlotte for being too stingy with the ice cubes and Charlotte looks crestfallen. Lorelai jokes about knowing all the escape routes out of the house, but Emily has prepped Charlotte, and she merely laughs it off as a "smart remark." Emily then goes through her makeshift lesson on her paper. About serving, sitting, napkins, and learning the utensil names. Charlotte can even name all the millions of forks there are. Charlotte says she’s looking forward to the summer cotillion, but Lorelai says they are just boring rituals to train a new generation of snobs. Small talk ensues. Lorelai is a little thrown off by Charlotte being there and is a little mixed up. She finally drops the news, and instantly… "Did you, that’s too bad" (sounding disinterested "Hmm…" - Richard The conversation moves back to Charlotte’s lesson and how it’s going, as if nothing happened and Lorelai had not brought Luke up. Lorelai actually looks offended they didn’t fight her or say anything in sympathy. She brings up the breakup again to see what they say. Apparently it’s to get it all in the open so they can all move on about the subject. And they attempt to, with Lorelai asking why they are avoiding the subject and why she has to mention it over and over again. Emily doesn’t see the point, since anything she says would be wrong and not right. Lorelai says that Emily could try, to at least say sorry about what happened, it must be hard about breaking up. So Emily does say that nicely. Lorelai is offended. Richard defends Emily, saying they are expressing their regrets, so why is she offended by that? Lorelai says that’s not true, they never liked Luke and they tried to break them up. Richard says he played golf with him, and Emily says they almost bought a house for them. It's getting heated when Rory tries to save the conversation with some drivel about Bangalore. It is the middle of the night. Logan calls Rory in Stars Hollow. They make small talk about what they have done lately. Logan starts typing, IMing, and Rory gets a little offended/concerned about what he is doing. But he is just rushed for work. It was a very unsatisfying call and not romantic at all. Rory looks sad and disappointed. Lorelai is staring at the Pop Tart she is about to eat wondering whether or not she likes them. She brings up the previous night. How she was dreading the reaction to the breakup and how her parents were going to react. But the absence of said reaction felt worse than any freak-out they could have had. But why, she asks, does she care? "Maybe their freak outs are like some kind of compass for me, you know. Like, I know I’m doing what I wanna do if it freaks them out. And then I thought, what if I don’t wanna do what I do because I wanna do it, but because they don’t want me to do it." - Lorelai She questions her decisions. Are they hers? Or something she does because Richard and Emily don’t like it? Or the men (referring possibly to both Luke and Christopher)--was Luke just a defiance point or was Chris? Does she really like Christopher then or does she like Luke?. "What if I don’t like what I seem to like?" - Lorelai So, the Pop Tarts. She ate them once as a kid in defiance of her parents. They tasted like freedom and she liked them. So, if they had been served to her instead, would she have liked them as much as she does? She’s been testing them lately and she is not sure whether she likes them. Rory talks about her call with Logan from Stars Hollow. She feels disconnected and awkward talking to him. She's working hard, but feels that maybe she shouldn’t have to work so hard to keep the relationship going. Luke’s grand re-opening of the diner. It looks exactly the same and that's good, but Miss Patty and Babette think something has changed. Rory walks in and sees Luke. Hey, Luke has a new hat, wow!! Rory notices and they make small talk. Not too awkward, huh? Lane is there working. Rory asks how it went with Zach. Lane has not told him yet, apparently since nobody knows. They are in the Dragonfly Inn's kitchen. Apparently the hair is a new look for Lorelai and she likes it. She is ranting about her mother influencing her decisions again and how she doesn't like it. Michel comes in and says Emily is there, at the Inn. We learn that Emily is holding a high tea for her cotillion class at the Inn that day. Sookie had the cute idea to make little baby pb&j sandwiches, but Emily thinks it's circus food. As she leaves, she compliments Lorelai’s hair. Paris’s SAT class is going on. Ah, our evil lovable Paris is back again. Rory is a great teacher, but her pupil is infatuated with her. Paris coaches her tutors to terrorize the students and be intimidating. Paris is alone with Rory, and tells her to engage in alternative sex options with Logan. Phone and text was what she and Doyle were doing, texting dirty things right then. Zach is complaining that he thinks Lane wants a divorce and is not happy. Lane comes in to talk with Zach about the things on her mind, but Zach wants to keep Brian there in the apartment. Lane blurts out that she’s pregnant. Brian leaves the room. Zach says they only did it once and then leaves to comfort Brian. Aw, he’s so freaked and so is Lane. Emily brings her class to the Inn, all dressed in finery and nice clothing. They "glide" to the library for tea, and on the way one girl, Caroline, makes chicken arms at Lorelai. Lorelai smiles - that was her when she was young. Michel laments about not having this as a child. Michel asks Lorelai to take him to the cotillion with her. Begs, practically, to let him come. He kept an old set of IOU’s to call in the favor. Caroline is making people laugh by stuffing her little mouth with a whole finger sandwich. Zach and Lane are at home together. He’s acting as if she’s not even pregnant with his baby. He won’t take his eyes of the video game he's playing. Bad. He wasn’t even being nice to Lane. Lane and Rory are at the bookstore looking for new books. Rory is reading about sex. Lane is reading about pregnancy. Both of them are freaking out. Lane says it seems like Zach forgot about being told about the pregnancy altogether. Rory confesses that just talking everyday on the phone might not be enough to keep her and Logan's relationship going. So Rory decided to go for it and texts Logan something steamy. Christopher calls Rory on her cell. Rory is not upset at her father. He wants to go to dinner with her and talk about stuff. Lorelai is planning what to wear to the upcoming cotillion. Rory is pouting that Logan hasn’t replied to her text message. Lane confronts Zach at dinner. Zach says he’s fine and ok, but projects his feelings as those of Brian, until Lane confesses she’s freaking out too and she does not know what to think. They make up, agreeing that their baby is a disaster. The Cotillion is coming up. Michel is annoyed with Lorelai because she did not get him a boutonnière. Michel congratulates Emily for creating a perfect Cotillion. Charlotte is very excited about it, they have some skit planned that Emily probably won’t like at all. Lorelai watches with what looks like regret about it. The kids are having fun, even Caroline (with her striped sneakers) the one who reminds her so much of herself when she was younger. And she starts to have fun too. Rory and Christopher return from dinner to Stars Hollow. Lorelai returns home, and Rory is awkward and feels weird. She decides to walk Paul Anka and take him out. Lorelai apologizes for not returning Chris’s call. Lorelai offers Chris coffee from the house, and he goes into a speech: "I can’t just sit here and have coffee with you. I love you. I know the other night didn’t mean for you what it did for me, but I don’t regret it. And I haven’t stopped thinking about it, since it happened. And not just because it was great, which it was, but because it was right. It was so right, Lor. And you may not see that right now, but I do. If I have to wait until we’re both 80 years old for you to see it, then I’ll wait. I’m not going anywhere. This is it for me. You’re it for me. And I can’t pretend to feel any less than I do, I’m sorry, I just can’t." - Christopher Lorelai just listens. And he leaves right after, to let her think about it. She sits there, stunned. Rory is in bed waiting for a text from Logan. She picks up the phone and calls him in London. He’s asleep. She mentions the text message. He says he replied, but she didn’t notice it at all. She reads them: a "wow" and a "whoa". Rory apologizes for waking him and is about to hang up, but Logan says no. He’s up and wants to talk. She should reply to the text. She says she doesn’t have her books with her. Aw, Logan says he misses her. Rory is too shy to reply to the text when on the phone because she feels strange. So they hang up. And start texting each other. Lorelai is staring at the corsage. She picks up the phone and calls Christopher. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Lorelai's First Cotillion」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
